Luxembourg to Le Puy-en-Velay
With the ‘E’ complete, we only had two letters left to draw: the letter R and the letter B of BREXIT! As September turned to October, and Autumn arrived in earnest, Katy and I decided to complete our trip around France as quickly as possible. This would allow us to descend to warmer climes asap and finish the trip in Spain and Portugal.
We headed south out of Luxembourg City and continued for another 650 kms to Le Puy-en-Velay. This town sits at the heart of the ‘Massif Central’ and is renowned for it’s volcanic landscape – the perfect place to start our GPS Tracker…

Arriving nice and early, our journey south seemed to have made all the difference – the sun was beaming! We set up camp in the shadow of The Chapel Saint-Michel, pulled on our gear and got out exploring.

This Chapel itself is a remarkable site, perched high on a rocky pinnacle and built in the 10th century it’s certainly worth the climb!

On the evening of our second day in Le Puy-en-Velay we departed. I drove through the night, first taking us up to Clermont-Ferrand and then across to Bordeaux.

We arrived at Laruns in the midst of yet another downpour but were in the mood to celebrate! Katy, Betty and I explored the beautiful village, attended a local festival and sampled some local French beer. Stage 9/10 of the Last European Tour was complete in record time. We were now ready to cross the border into sunny Spain….
